Feast Your Eyes

July 13, 2010

Prim eyelashes. *sigh* Is there anything more fiddly for the SL fashionista to fit?  I have two pairs that I wear routinely, mainly because they already fit and I can’t be bothered to spend time on others.  That is, until yesterday.  Yesterday, you see, I made it a mission of mine not to be such a wimp. Fashion is so eeeeeeasy in SL, it is easy to get lazy about it.  Buy it, wear it, mix it, layer it… a few little clicks.  But in real life, fashion is suffering: be it 4 inch heels or starving into a season of miniskirts.  It was high time for Jenopolis to pay the price of looking good.

So– here are three stellar eyelash sets which I fitted myself in an unusual display of patience and mild suffering.  Not that they are perfect… I’m not THAT good with details.  But I did step back afterwards and think– dang!  Worth the time.  They are pretty amazing little pieces of art.

Also– as a little extra treat for the eyelash work, I featured some thrifty finds of mine from the last week or so.  Including a gorgeous 100L skin!  Enjoy…

Errand Girl

August 18, 2009

Just a casual look for today, inspired by my endless list of errands at the moment.  When a huge list of run-here-do-that presents itself on a nice summer day which would be better spent at the beach, I can tend to get a bit cranky.  The only antidote, really, is to be sure that I procrastinate the errands as much as possible by choosing a cool outfit I will enjoy wearing.  Hence– today’s look.  I wish I had this ensemble in a RL version, for sure!

huh

The top is a great tee I picked up at Pink, and it is really fun!  The pink and green color combo drew me in immediately. And did you get a good look at the design?  *sigh*

I paired it with a skirt that is actually part of a dress, and part of a FREE dress I got from Elate through the DSN group.  It is a great dress, but the part I really fell in love with was this skirt.  It is high waisted, which… SQUEE.  The layers are lovely.  And… (look!  look below!)

step

There is a mini bustle going on in the back!  How cute is that?  (Answer… impossibly cute.)

I also decided to bring out a favorite new bag of mine, from Gbberish.  This is such a cool texture, and it is fashioned like some sort of kerchief that is folded expertly… the kind that you could put on a long stick and carry on your shoulder if you were a hobo.  Cool, right?

I treated myself to some new hair, too, and this is from lamb.  I heart lamb!  The color is so sassy, fulfilling my urge for carroty redness in a still-wearable color.  Like, hyper Irish.  And the smooth, lush texture.  Mmmmm. Put that together with my beloved Miel Jane shoes and some ruffly socks, because… well, comfort doesn’t have to be ugly!

Speaking of ugly– or not… I am also trying out my newest skin splurge, from My Ugly Dorothy.  The detail is uniquely lovely: the slightly chapped lips are executed so perfectly, the little beauty mark on the lip… yay!  I think the best part is that I can wear this skin when I do not want to look like I had 4 hours to do my makeup, when I just want to look like a girl who rolled out of bed, had a bowl of cereal, and is now on her way to the dry cleaners.  It is beautiful in the most raw way.   (Well, as raw as a gorgeous, glowing complexion can look.  :))

OK… in case you hadn’t guessed, this post was MY way of procrastinating a few errands.  Time to face RL, the supermarket, the drug store, the post office, and the DMV.  Must… motivate…

In the meantime– happy shopping!!

Designers United… for Jellyfish!

August 16, 2009

Get ready to squee: yesterday the Designer’s United Event opened!  This time the theme was Jellyfish, a very appropriate theme for August in my neck of the woods.  The range of creations is amazing… everything from poses to hair to clothing and accessories, with some interpretations of jellyfish being more literal than others.  In any case, the proof is in the Lindens– I could not reel in my shopping impulses and I promptly bought out the whole store of things for my virtual closet.

Is that crazy of me?  You be the judge:

Bustier

First off– the skin.  JM:Mai has created two versions of a Jellyfish skin, and this one is called water.  It is utterly lovely, with freckles and a translucent glow that really does recall the look of a jellyfish, but in a non-costumey, flattering and wearable way.   The makeup on the face is all courtesy of the skin, but the tattoo below the neck is not.  That is an adorably affordable creation from Duboo, rendering Jellyfish as cartoonish and colorful things which… well, I would like to IMAGINE they are.

Adding to the adorable factor of this outfit is the uber-fun two tone hair from Ohmai, which has my fave ginger as the base with a big streak of lemony yellow threaded in the braid from the back.  There are other color combinations available, too, and the style is so hipster and does mimic jellyfishy tentacles very cleverly.

The bustier top is from This is a Fawn, and while it is not the most literal of jellyfish interpretations, it certainly is squeelicious and has great gradiation of colors and texture!  I paired that with some freebie tights from Royal Blue, and some genius poofer shorts from Gigi, for a funky little hipster Jelly girl look.

(Another outfit and all the slurls, after the jump)
