Here Comes the Bride

September 14, 2009

Saturday is my wedding day.  (Yayyy!  Happy Jen!)

Things are getting very hectic, though, so I will not be able to post for a few weeks.  (Boooo!  Sad Jen!)

In honor of my pending nuptuals and the topic that seems to be consuming every corner of my mind these days, I wanted to put together a couple of wedding looks.

here comes

This dress from Lurve is a winner!  The detail in the texture is great… you can almost feel the weight of the fabric, and the silkiness.  See it?

I do

I adore the little feathery sweetness at the bustline, too.  The silhouette is grand, but not over the top, and it really lends itself to many kinds of weddings.  As with most SL wedding dresses, there are a variety of skirt options, and I have chosen the biggest here.  It was the only one I “lurved” really.  🙂

bouquet

And can we talk about this bouquet for a minute??  Exquisite!  I have to say, I was not a fan of LaPointe and BastChild‘s whole mega mall set up, and it was hard shopping there, but amidst all the flotsam and jetsam there were these gorgeous bouquets– WITH all sorts of fun wedding options attached!  Poses, throwing, etc.  OK, just posing and throwing.  But you get my drift…

Now… on to a vixen of a bride:

chapel

Hmmm.  From this angle, she doesn’t look so vixeny, I admit.  But I had to start off by showing you this train and bustle.  Oooooo, I love the bustle!  This dress from VictoriaV showcases V’s rightfully famous workmanship.  The attachments barely need any adjusting, and the skirt comes in a million different choices– again, this is the biggest.  The veil is from VictoriaV as well, a simple thing called the Erin that seemed to me went nicely with this simple and sexy dress.  Ohhh, and speaking of sexy:

happy bride

HERE you can see the corseting and plunging neckline and fitted bodice that make me squee!  Yes, she is a vixen all right, but not a slut.  There is a difference, no?  I love the way this works with the Poseidon pearls set, a great find from luc that I wear alllll the time, though never quite as nicely as here with this bridal look!  And instead of a full bouquet, I added in a lovely lily cuff from creamshop.  Ohhh, creamshop– how I adore you.

So… that is it, my sweets!  Next time I post, it will be as a married lady, but I solemnly promise no less squeeing and frivolity than my single self indulged in!  (For better or worse, eh?)

See you very soon… until then, check out the details below.  MUAHHHH!

Random Newishness

September 8, 2009

It has been a craaaaaazy week, and one which didn’t allow for much blogging, shopping, or picturing!  Sorry for the break, but I’ll try to catch up with a few outfits using some of the best new stuff I have gotten my pixelated paws on…

handstand

As a child of the 80s and 90s, I treasure my Nintendo memories, and these jeans from The Sea Hole made me smile and laugh out loud!  Great acid wash on them, and to top it off, a tribute to Super Mario on each thigh.  *sigh*  Adorable!  To let them stand out, I paired them with bold solids, including a favorite sweatshirt from Fishy Strawberry with the coolest length imaginable… I’ve never see a bolero sweatshirt in real life, but I think they should catch on immediately!  Imagine, all the coolness of a sweatshirt without hiding womanly curves.  Yay!  Add in the clogs from Tesla in a bold green, and I could totally imagine playing around in these duds.

Woo-hoo!

Untitled-1

The middle outfit here is all based around this excellent new dress from Elate, called the Penelope.  It has a simple, sexy top with a fish scale skirt that totally rocks.  I played the glamness of it down just a bit with this long vest from MayoNaise, which I got at the Black Market opening weekend.  Such cool ruffles on the bottom, and a clever use of skirt prim that does NOT require a special shape!  The shoes are part of a shopping spree I had at a store I recently discovered, R2 Fashion.  WOW.  Great wearable and funky shapes, in a ton of cool colors.

Date Night

August 28, 2009

It’s Friday, and that means date night!  Yayyy!  Well, it is a bittersweet date night for me tonight, actually, since tomorrow morning I’m leaving my sweetie here in Portugal for two weeks, to visit with my family in the States and get all the final preparations together for our wedding day there.  I guess that deserves another YAY!  But I wish we didn’t have to be apart until just four days before the wedding… no more dates until the honeymoon!

So, you have caught me in a pretty mushy mood today, and my post is an outfit appropriate for a last date before the big day.  We met and started our relationship in SL, so this is a little tribute to him, my wonderful guy and almost hubby…

Hodgepodge of Style

August 26, 2009

I honestly can’t believe how much happens in a single day or two of SL time… I took the weekend off, and spent yesterday shopping to see all the things my group notices told me I missed! 🙂

One of those notices alerted me to a new sugarcube store in Hodgepodge.  Yayy!  So I started at sugarcube and spent a lovely couple of hours scouring the whole Hodgepodge shopping sim.  In the end, I threw these outfits together based on the inspiration from alllll the great stuff I found.

big one 2

The hair here is from bffae, a new store that has some very very cute styles!  Here, I have used their Doll Babe, featuring a lovely bun on the top, and Retro Girl, a nice shag with seriously great bangs.  I am looking forward to seeing more from these guys!

The red dress is from Karamia, and I could not resist the bubbleskirt or the flouncy big sleeves.  It just looks like it would be soooo comfortable as well as chic!  The stripes are a lovely texture, with subtle shading up and down the dress.  I used the big, open neckline to spotlight another find from a store in Hodgepodge: Addict‘s appropriately named Doll Necklace.  That store makes me smile, with all the clever and unique accessories!

big one

The second outfit is almost entirely thanks to sugarcube.  Ahhhhh, sugarcube, what have I done to deserve you??  🙂  Yayyyyy a thousand times to this jacket and ruffled shirt, actually found at the Black Market sim, not Hodgepodge.  I can’t say anything about them that you can’t see for yourself, so I will let them express their own utter awesomeness.  The skirt *is* one I picked up at the Hodgepodge sugarcube store, and the bubble and waist are simply lovely– so versatile, I am not ashamed to say I bought all four colors!

To accent the sugarcube outfit with a bit of color, I surrendered to splurging on shoes at Periquita.  I was so delighted by the way these styles effortlessly walk the line between uniquely creative and simple and wearable.  Really outstanding!  To top it off, the shoes have a HUD that lets you customize each pair in many ways: sole, straps, texture, size, etc.  Wow!  All that, and I felt like I was really getting a bargain, in the end…

close up

And finally, I brought out two new skins from KA Designs, from the new Glow collection.  They really live up to the name– truly luminous and subtle.  I especially like the detail on the Charlize face, with the small beauty marks on the pale skin.  Lovely!

That’s it for now… happy shopping, and see you soon!

Yo Ho Ho and a Bottle of Black Market

August 25, 2009

Jump Ship

The Black Market is a brand new shopping area, and it.  Is.  Impressive.  SQUEE!!

It is not the usual mall set up, either by design or by function.  The “olde-pirate-o’-fashion” scene it creates is super fun, and the shop stalls are a maze of small rooms around a tiny central cove.  Quality designers from different genres in SL are setting up stalls to share their sales and exclusives.   That’s right– a place to shop some of the most creative, cool designers in SL that is devoted to sales and exclusives!  Hee!

Sales and discounted items from each designer will be rotated regularly in 2-3 week intervals, which of course gives shopping addicts a reason to go back again and again, despite the relatively small size of each shop.  My favorite part, I think, was the small collection of dinghies in the middle of the cove, with all the free stuff in them!  A clever idea, and a central area for anyone who just wants the free and 1L items.  Yayyyyy.

I, of course, could not resist a full tour and dropping more than a few Lindens, so here are some of my fave new pieces:

(lots of booty pics… errr, PIRATE booty… with slurls after the jump.)

Procrastinators Alert: Skipping Stones Hunt

August 23, 2009

Yes, the Skipping Stones Hunt has been going on for almost two weeks now, and I have just gotten around to doing it.  *sigh*  Hey, I can’t be too disappointed, though, because it doesn’t matter WHEN you do it, what matters is– do you like your new loot?!?

The short answer is YES YES YES!  There are some super-fantastic cute things on this hunt, and I did find stores I had never heard of before that I really liked.  What a great side benefit to hunting– new shopping places!  Yayyy!

For those who have been under a rock (or on vacation) for the last two weeks, the hunt highlights the best bohemian and alternative stores in SL, and has been running since August 10.  The last day of the hunt is August 24, which is… tomorrow!  So if you are a procrastinator like me, you better get your hustle on and start looking for rocks.

Untitled-1

There is toooooo much in the 60+ stores to spotlight everything, but I did notice a lot of bikinis in my swag… so here is a look at the swimsuits of the hunt, paired with some hunted skin and hair as well.  Everything is free, of course, it just takes a little time to find each hidden stone.  (If you are interested in speeding up your time, try these official hints.)

Have fun, and when you are ready, START HERE.  Good luck!  ❤

Study Break

August 20, 2009

A couple of casual study looks today, pulled together from some new favorite pieces.  Some are new releases, some are just new to me, but all of them are ready for the library for a little studying, and then out for a couple of pitchers afterwards.  🙂

Outfit 1

OK, so a bare midriff may not be ideal for helping fellow students concentrate, but this new release from Decoy deserves a blank canvas!  It is an exquisitely detailed piece, and I love the cropped length, zipper action, and the nicely done prim sleeves.  The second highlight here for me is the messenger bag from Cherry.  This is total mod-fest!  You can choose the bag print, the leather color, and even choose the three pins on the flap.  Woot!  Fun for lots of moods and looks, and I love the messenger bag look, an oft-neglected bag type in SL.  I couldn’t resist the very-much-blogged Genius Peepers from Miel, either.  The tape on the bridge is so cute, and not overdone, and every single bit of this is color changeable, too.  The other new thing here is the Pink Fuel skin.  Sooooooo super sweet, with a fresh and rosy complexion and the most adorable freckles– squee!

Outfit 2

A little more color here, but just as comfy for pulling an all-nighter, no?  This whole look is based around a pair of pants I bought at Niniko a couple months ago, and for some reason have never blogged!  What a crime!  These are such an adorable mish mash of patterns, and the silhouette is simple and current, and it comes with a pretty great belt, too.  I used this opportunity to put on a new acquisition of mine, the super tight, short cardigan from Pig.  Gawwwd, I love Pig!  It looks so casually chic over this adorable Jellyfish tee from Duboo, a Designer’s United event piece.  The cutey-patootie hair from Ohmai makes me smile whenever I wear it, and I think it has met its soulmate in cuteness with these Miel flats.  How is it possible for pixels to look so comfy and squooshy??  LOVE!

So, study hard, drink lots of coffee, speed type the last six pages of your paper on your laptop, and at 2 am head out to the ‘Stend for a couple shots of tequila with the boys of Pi Kappa Alpha!

(Ohhh, can you sense my nostalgia for college creeping in?  I loved study breaks!)

Happy shopping!

Frutilicious Summer

August 19, 2009

in the fruit

Summer.  Watermelon.  Mmmm.

I hadn’t really thought of dressing like a watermelon, though, until I saw these fantastic shoes from Nushu.  The detail is cool, but more than that, the shape and style of them really sold me!  Kitchy?  Yeah.  Which is what makes them so great to pair with these hipster, edgy pieces that I have been dying to wear.  Yayyy!

shoes

So, the shoes are quite literal, but beyond that, the color palette they gave me to build on was totally fun and summery.  I scoured through my dresses to find one I bought a few weeks ago, and didn’t have a look for yet.  It is from the cute-as-pie suetabulous and her Beetle Bones store, and… yay!  It is color blocked, uber-hip, versatile, and really inspiring.  I love the neckline and the way the cream panels on the sides make it look vaguely corseted–  soooo adorable.

whole look

To bring out the great color of the dress and funk things up some more, I pulled on tights from the Twee outfit I got at the Designer’s United Event.  They are green sequined leggings, y’all.  Does it get any better??  They have such a unique texture, they take a fabulous basic dress like this one and just kick it up to total squee!

I also found that the neckline of the dress was perfect for my newest DeLa find, the new Kiera bow.  It is sooo cute, and when you are tired of scarves and necklaces, it provides yet another accessory option.  Or, if you are NOT tired of your scarves and necklaces, you can still use it– it comes as an arm bow as well.  Woot!

close up

To finish it off, I put on the gorgeous new-ish hair from Curio, Paper Tiger.  I love Curio reds, and the ease and coolness of the headband here is just lovely lovely lovely.  Add in the classic, flawless, made-for-redhead skin from LAQ, and I was a very happy girl indeed.

That’s all for now!  Time to beat the heat and go find myself some melon, no?  🙂

Dress: Beetle Bones, Bebop dress in red
Leggings: Twee, Jellyfish Jellyfish Jellyfish
