So– here are three stellar eyelash sets which I fitted myself in an unusual display of patience and mild suffering.  Not that they are perfect… I’m not THAT good with details.  But I did step back afterwards and think– dang!  Worth the time.  They are pretty amazing little pieces of art.

You will understand, then, why I am so FREAKING excited by the plethora of summer fashion festivals all over SL these days.  I haven’t been able to cover them all yet, or even the very biggest (that will be its own post).  Today I am highlighting two of my smaller, quirky faves.   Not just because they are filled with excellent shopping– though they are.  The design and feel of these festivals is so… *happy sigh*.  Believe me, you will have fun!

The Twinkle Night Bazaar is being held in honor of the Japanese Festival called Tanabata.  I admit, I had not heard of this festival before, and I am sad that I hadn’t.  If you are a sucker for a love story, it won’t take you long to get into this either.  Star crossed lovers, literally: a princess and a cowherder are separated by a wide river, and can only meet once a year through the kindness of magpies who form a bridge to carry them high across the water.  This fable is immortalized in the sky, with the stars Altair and Vega playing the lovers, and the wide white Milky Way separating them.

What does this have to do with SL, fashion, and summer festivals?  Well, friends, apparently the date the lovers are allowed to meet is almost upon us– July 7.  And as a result, the stores of Pookie Promenade have gotten together to design special twinkly, star-themed exclusive items.  They are fun, delicate, and placed in a surreal swirl of darkness that lets you climb a path of stars as you shop.  It is… FUN.  And have I mentioned the prices?? SO good!

Once you have been dazzled by stars and are ready for the summer sun again, hop over to Tableau’s Summer Festival.  A squee-packed arrangement of stalls down Tableau’s supercute main street has a load of summery goodness and exclusives from the regions shops.  It will make you feel like bluefly landed on Main Street USA… and once again, the prices are outstandingly reasonable!

This was not always the case.  I used to be an escort (don’t judge!  I was a poor l’il noob!) and panties were my primary item of clothing.  But three years later I have ditched or sold all my lingerie and don’t have a pair of knickers to save my soul.  Even more shocking… I didn’t know where to buy more!  SL evolves fast and with three years between me and my last underwear purchase I was lost and going commando.

SO… this blog post is a chronicle of me finding my way back into the world of panties.  I wonder if some of you have forgotten the art of undergarments, as well?  Whether you are looking for functional undies or something hot-cha-cha enough to make a good dog break his leash, I hope you find something you like in these pics and the slurls and details that follow.  Take a stroll with me down the aisles of what I think are some of the best panty shops in-world:

Built for comfort, not for speed…

The name of this panty and bra set from Fishy Strawberry says it all.  Laundry Day panties, nothing too fancy, just good old comfort and a gentle reminder that it is time to do a load of unmentionables before your boyfriend comes over.  Still, although they resist being labelled sexy, they are wonderfully made and detailed, and the fit on the crotch is fantastic.  And as you can see from the pic, they may not be come hither, but they do have a bit of “cheek”!

Sugar and Spice

If you have gone anywhere near Fifty Linden Fridays in the last couple of months, I know you have some of these Frilly Little Knickers in your drawer.  Whippet & Buck puts out a new color or print of these panties almost every time it participates.  Not that I am complaining– would you?  I went into the store on a non-Friday and bought the matching bra, in Cherry Blossom.  These just look like summer to me, fresh and comfy and with a little twirl of girliness to make you feel pretty when you pull them on.

Killing the Blues

I adore this panty set, and it is from a store I had no idea existed until a day ago.  Pacadi Jasha is a treasure trove of bras and knickers which match, but… don’t.  It is a wonderful idea, since it reconstructs what I (and other people, right?) do on a daily basis.  We match, but we don’t have dozens of perfectly matching sets laying around.  In this case, I chose their fresh bright turquoise Mia Bra, and the polka-dotted Secret Panties.  Sporty and Sexy Spice, all rolled into one!

I love being a girl

You didn’t think I would buy all my panties in cotton, did you?  :)  Here is a gorgeous satin set from Insolence, a store that has been around so long I actually remember the name.  This is the Satin Ensemble in pink, and I am wearing the camisole with prim frill. (The set also comes with a schmexy bra layer.)  The sheen, the detail, and the femininity just bubbling over in this set… nomnomnom.

All that jazz

Here we go– some real bells and whistles!  This set and its sisters have been blogged all over the place, and with good reason.  Phoenix Rising has released a vaguely retro, full-on sexy assault of new lingerie.  I chose this one, Pout, in red because it is not for the faint of heart.  One of my favorite things here is the exquisite detail in the garter and hose.  Look at those buckles!  And the way the hose pulls up just in the right spots!  *Squeeee*  Really a delicious bit of handiwork and a damn sexy set.

Luxe and Luscious

OK.  If you are looking for something to wear to BLOW HIS MIND, to make him kneel to the goddess that resides in your skin and spoil the empress you know yourself to be– you need to head to Shai.  Shai specializes in luxe fabrics, rich detailing, and lingerie, thank you very much– not your everyday laundry panties.  I love this one, which makes me feel like a czarina (although it is called, more Euro-ishly, the Marquise.) The fur floof on the bottom of the corset, the whisper-thin hose, and the barely visible thong… *sigh*.  In the end, it all adds up to giving your honey the royal treatment.

In this case, the red all over is actually red all over my head– in the form of a new Beetlebones hairstyle, soon to be released.  (Tx, Sue!! ) It is very “bedhead for a fraulein”, I think… with a whiff of Princess Leia letting her buns down jusssst a tad.  Super cute, super fun!

The black and whiteness itself was inspired by this top from Kenzie & Co.  From the front, it’s just a fun black and white print.  From the back– whoa!  A racerback made out of a zipper.  LOVE!  It pairs really well, in my humble opinion, with this slightly highwaisted mini from Beetlebones and a pair of cropped Armidi leggings.

Okay, okay.  I know what you are waiting for.  The SHOES.  Holy moly, these shoes are outstanding!!  Custom toes, strappy wrappy goodness, a little height, optional choice of toe ring, selection of nail colors… J’s is genius.  And– not that expensive considering the quality of the shoe.  I have a couple of Maitreya Gold pairs and they are masterpieces, but I get a bit queasy when I think of how much I paid for them (L$1100, I think).  I got this pair at J’s for one third of the price!  My one complaint– it is not very easy to adjust the skin color on these puppies.  It took me a while to figure out the HUD despite the enclosed notecard with directions.  Not a deal-breaker by any means, but it is worth mentioning.

Summertime heat is here.  Kinda makes a girl want to sizzle, no?  So, here I am, ready for a sultry night of dancing on the beaches of some South American paradise.

One last thing– I don’t have a dance partner.  Hmmmm.  What to DO?  Guess I’ll be conducting auditions of broad-shouldered Latin gods to hold me close and teach me how to samba.  (By appointment only, contact Jenopolis.  :) )

Speaking of which… I am at the stadium in my own version of red white and blue. The credit for the enormous and completely BLUE foam finger goes to Reek. Genius work!  And the color is completely mod, so root for whichever team you like.  Another big LURVE goes out to duboo, and the darling Newreem, for some amazing work on these tights– and they are entirely apropos for the World Cup!

The dress is my WHITE, and is one of the most versatile dresses I have ever bought.  It is from Fawn, and rides the rail right between sexeh and indie SO well.  It also creates just the right amount of cleavage to show off the Yummy necklace!

Finally, the RED would have to be my hair, of course!  This time, it’s Clawtooth, and the reddy red shade is a new one for me, called Valentine.  It was a 50L grab at one point in the last couple weeks, and I am really taken with it.

My latest workout mix is a tribute to the late 80s.  Besides the obvious appeal of synthesized musical goodness, it makes me smile just to listen to it.  I remember my big sister going to junior high dances, all side ponytailed up, Aqua Net in her bag, and thinking… man, some day I will be as cool as that.

Well, by the time I got that old, grunge had set in, and I was thwarted.  Flannel and dirty hair are fine in their way, but it would never satisfy that urge of mine to have a candy colored wardrobe and bright pink lipstick.  So, as is so often the case, I am inflicting my subconscious yearnings on you via SL fashion.  Look out!

This mood and look all came from one new purchase: Emery‘s one shoulder top.  It is simply SQUEE, in bright capital letters!  Besides the cleverness on the front, which makes me smile, the colors.  Are. Perfect.  Looooove!  Only one pair of pants in my (extensive) inventory was capable of holding its own with this shirt.  That would be the fabulous and quirky ziggy starbutt pants from the Sea Hole.  This store is a completely bizarre, completely wonderful place.  I got these pants a while ago, so I’m listing them here, hoping they are still on sale.  If not– eh, you will find other brilliance there, so I’m not going to apologize!

Now, let’s talk shoes.  These flip flops from creamshop are, in my book, a necessary purchase for the summer.  The toes are just genius, and the choice of nail polish and skin color are easy and rewarding.  Looking at these, I want to wiggle my feets in some sand RIGHT NOW.

Lastly, the W&Y hair.  Does any hair place walk the line between wearable and couture like W&Y?  I don’t think so!  I have so very many styles in my hair folder, and whenever I want an outfit to pop, I try a few on.  LOVE.

Yeah, mid-week crankiness abounds, and I was working it out by going through my inventory and trying on a bunch of things that had been languishing, frankly.  I had a whole folder of Modd.G stuff which I had barely tried on– including this fabulous, over the top dress.  After the dress came the new(ish) Maitreya hair with slouchy beret, and suddenly I had visions of meadows of milk cows and fashion-forward leiderhosen.  Am I wrong??

So, here it is.  An outfit borne of closet raiding, and which DID serve to get me over the funk I was in.

Aha!  Funk.  Funky Fraulein.  It comes full circle.

Reason number 112 why SL is an outstanding place to live:  You can gorge yourself on sweets all you like, and still fit into all of your haute couture.  Wooohoo!

If you have a sweet tooth that needs some attending to, I strongly suggest you take a stroll over to Pookie Promenade, suetabulous yootz’s clever and cutey shopping mall.  Her Pookie Patisserie there is yummmmmmilicious, and the eating animations are a total riot!!  But the pixelated cupcakes aren’t the only sugary confections there– this collection of stores is absolutely the most sweet, yummy, girly, fun little band of fashion stalls I have run across in a long time.  It inspired a truly little girl mood, complete with squealing and a decided lack of self control as I parted with my Lindens… and stuffed my face.

This dress!  It is so very cool, and from a store I had not heard of before– u.f.o.  As you know, I have been awol for a while and this is one of the best discoveries I have made since my return.  The collection in the store is so delicate and airy– like a big chiffon and lace extravaganza, perfect for summer.  The main accessory I chose for this lovely girly dress?  A cupcake.  And… a CUPCAKE!  (Both baked fresh at the Pookie Patisserie… complete with “stuffing the face” animation.  Squee!)

The next dress is a versatile, chic, oh-so-casual piece from fab suetab herself at Beetlebones, and I have a hard time believing that this does not go with EVERYTHING!  Style it up, down, around, whatevs– can you deny that it will find its way out of your closet a LOT, and in multiple seasons?  :)  Yayyy!  I spiced it up here with a pair of 1$L leggings from another new find for me– Tee*fee.  Yeah– 1$L.  Can you beleeeeeve it?  The store devotes itself to a huge array of leggings, all done perfectly, and all with one goal: to spice up your legs!  Squeelicious.  :)  I was not done raiding the patisserie either, so I pulled out a blueberry ice cream pop to go with my hair bow.  And, of course, in honor of Violet Beauregarde.

OK, off to go spelunking for more cool stores!  Try out Pookie if you haven’t already, and give in to your inner girlyness.  Or at least gather a few cupcakes…
